XTREME CAVITATION PLATES

What is Prop Cavitation?

Propeller cavitation is a phenomenon that occurs when a propeller’s flow pattern breaks down, causing the formation of small vapor-filled cavities in the liquid. This happens when there are rapid changes in pressure in the liquid, which can create areas of low pressure on the propeller blades. The low pressure can cause the water to boil without heating up, producing steam bubbles.

Cavitation can cause significant damage to a propeller and other components of a vessel, such as the hull and rudder. The vapor bubbles can strike the surface of the blades, causing erosions, pitting, and ductile deformation that can make the surface look like an orange peel. Cavitation can also reduce a propeller’s thrust and bite, making it less efficient and causing vibrations that can make a ride less comfortable.

At Xtreme Boats, we have the perfect solution for any cavitation issue one may experience. Our Xtreme Cavitation Plate not only corrects cavitation, it also allows boats to plane quicker and run at shallow depths.
